Product information
This round MDF cake board by Dasbi, 25 cm across and 6 mm thick, is twice as thick as a 3 mm board. The white top with black edge gives your cake a crisp contrast, and boards come in packs of 10.
Which cake does a 25 cm, 6 mm board suit?
A 25 cm board suits a cake baked in a 20 or 21 cm tin, with room all round for buttercream and decoration. At 6 mm thick it suits a heavier, richly filled cake. It fits the tall cake box with handle, 25 x 25 x 35 cm.
Can my cake sit directly on the board?
Yes, your cake can sit directly on the varnished white top. According to the Dasbi technical data sheet, the varnish is suitable for dry, moist, acidic and fatty foods, so also for sponge, fresh fruit, jam, buttercream and ganache. The edge and the underside are not intended for contact with food.
How heavy can the cake be?
The manufacturer recommends 6 mm boards for cakes up to about 10 kg, taking size, weight distribution and transport into account. For a two-tier cake, Dasbi advises using internal supports. For a lighter cake, a 3 mm board is enough.

Material, food contact and disposal
The cake board is made of MDF with a white finish; the top is coated with a food contact varnish. Only that varnished top is suitable for direct contact with food; the edge, the underside and any damaged spots in the varnish are not. According to the Dasbi declaration, the sum of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium in the MDF, varnish and dyes is below 100 mg/kg. In the Netherlands, MDF does not go with waste paper or organic waste: put the board in the residual waste after use, or take larger amounts to the municipal recycling centre.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference with the 3 mm board?
This board is twice as thick. The manufacturer recommends 6 mm boards for cakes up to about 10 kg, compared with about 2.5 kg for 3 mm. Choose 6 mm for a heavy or tall cake.
Is there also a white cake board with a glossy finish?
Yes. If you prefer a glossy white board, choose the 25 cm MDF cake board in glossy white, in packs of 10. You will find all sizes in the glossy white MDF cake boards collection.
Can I put the cake board in the fridge?
Yes. The board is intended for use at room temperature or colder, so a cake on this board can go in the fridge. Do not place a warm cake on it, and do not use it in the oven, microwave or dishwasher.
Can I reuse the cake board?
No, the cake board is intended for single use, so you simply hand it over with the cake.
How do I prepare the board for use?
Wipe the top with a damp cloth before first use. Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners, and do not immerse the board in water.
How do I dispose of the cake board?
In the Netherlands, MDF does not go with waste paper or organic waste. Put a used board in the residual waste, or take larger amounts to the municipal recycling centre. Elsewhere, follow your local rules for treated wood.
