Product information
This extra thick MDF cake board, Ø 350 mm and 10 mm thick, is made for heavy cakes: tiered cakes, wedding cakes and large celebration cakes with a bottom tier from a 26 to 28 cm tin. The top and edge are glossy white, and this board too gets top ratings from customers. Sold in packs of 5.
Why a 10 mm thick board?
Because a tiered cake is much heavier than a single cake. A 10 mm MDF board is more than twice as thick as my standard 4 mm boards and therefore much stiffer, so the bottom tier stays steady when you lift and transport the cake. The top and edge are glossy white, so even for a wedding cake you need no finishing ribbon for a polished look.
Which box fits a 35 cm board?
A tall 35 x 35 cm cake box, which I sell for tiered cakes. Order the board together with that cake box and it counts as a combo deal.

Material, food contact and disposal
The cake board is made of MDF, a panel of compressed wood fibres, 10 mm thick. The top and edge are covered with a glossy white polyethylene (PE) layer. According to my supplier's declaration of conformity, the board is suitable for direct contact with dry and fatty foods at room temperature or colder. Moist, acidic and liquid foods are excluded, as is heating in an oven or microwave. The board is intended for single use. Disposal in the Netherlands: the used cake board with cake residue goes in residual waste, the shrink film around the set (PE) goes in plastic waste (PMD).
Frequently asked questions
Which cake tin goes with a 35 cm cake board?
The bottom tier of your cake from a 26 to 28 cm tin. That leaves a border all round for your finish and for moving the cake safely; as a rule of thumb, the board is at least 2.5 cm larger than your cake.
Which cakes is the board suitable for?
Dry and fatty foods: according to my supplier's declaration, the board is suitable for those at room temperature or colder. Moist, acidic and liquid foods fall outside that declaration.
Can the cake go in the fridge on the board?
Yes. My supplier's declaration covers contact at room temperature or colder, so you can keep your cake on the board in the fridge until it is collected or delivered.
