Cakemehappy: Gluten-free enjoyment for everyone!
Savon Versluijs is the proud owner of Cakemehappy, a bakery that specializes in gluten-free cakes, cupcakes and sweets. This big Disney fan is also a mother of 2 children and works at a primary school, but still finds peace in baking.
Mother's heart
Savon started baking for her son Luca 9 years ago, who was diagnosed with celiac disease. "I started baking for him. For home, but also for family visits." Soon the orders started rolling in. "I love giving children who are not allowed to eat gluten such a beautiful cake." She quickly expanded her range and now bakes for everyone who wants or has to eat gluten-free.
Entrepreneurship with passion
In 2021, Savon officially started her own company, after a looooot of practice. The satisfaction she gets from making people happy with her delicious creations is enormous. "We know better than anyone what a struggle it can be to go somewhere and not be able to eat anything," says Savon.
Challenges
The path of an entrepreneur is not without bumps, and Savon is no exception. "All the bookkeeping is not my favorite part of being an entrepreneur. Sitting behind the laptop for hours, writing emails, making invoices and keeping the bookkeeping. Let me just stand in the kitchen and create something beautiful," laughs Savon.
Tips for aspiring bakers
"Do a lot of research, talk to other bakers and don't let the competition get you down. Keep celebrating your own successes, no matter how small they may seem."
Instagram as a showcase
As a modern entrepreneur, Savon understands the power of social media, especially Instagram. “Instagram is an important platform for my business. I sell a lot of products there and share my latest creations with my followers.” But she also recognizes the challenge of being consistently visible and creative.
The art of packaging
For Savon, packaging is just as important as the content. With an eye for detail and quality, she ensures that her products are not only tasty, but also a visual feast to unpack. She reuses packaging material where possible and uses stickers with her logo to give the packaging a personal touch.
Savon is a big fan of the bento boxes and sweet boxes. "These trendy packagings are perfect to present my pastries."
Dream for the future
Looking to the future, Savon dreams of a world where gluten-free enjoyment is possible everywhere. Savon hopes that Cakemehappy will be found in many coffee houses in the future. "So that everyone can enjoy gluten-free without worries."
