Dieuw's Bakery
Let me introduce myself!Dieuwertje (26) has been in the baking world for four years now. Her love for baking started at a young age: “As a child, I already loved baking. My grandmother used to bake the most delicious things for the family, such as muffins, apple pie and her delicious speculaas.” After her higher professional education, Dieuwertje wanted to start her own business and the choice for the baking profession was quickly made. “I started building up Dieuw's Bakkerij in February 2020. This went so well that I have had a beautiful bakery/café in the center of Almere since May 2023.” |

Educational journeyAlthough Dieuwertje has no formal training in the baking world, she has taken valuable courses with none other than Master Patissier Robèrt van Beckhoven. “I have another course planned for May 2024. I have learned so much about the baking profession in the courses, which only increased my motivation.” |

Stumbling blocksWhen asked about the challenges of entrepreneurship, Dieuwertje answers: “Entrepreneurship is exciting and stressful, but you do it with pleasure because you know it is your passion. I get a lot of energy from it and am always looking for new ideas to make people happy with my/our creations!” The start of the business was especially difficult. “You often compare yourself to the high level of other bakers. But you have to work hard and keep thinking creatively to distinguish yourself. It is important to create your own style and build on that.” |

Tips for Beginner BakersFor aspiring bakers, Dieuwertje has a simple message: just do it! "Don't be afraid to fail," she encourages. "It's a learning process, and always be open to new challenges." |

Trends: Tops and flopsDieuwertje is in love with vintage cakes: “I completely relax when I'm making these cakes. And the cakes with the bows are also one of my favorite trends at the moment.” Cakes with crazy tricks, on the other hand, are not for her: “My least favorite trend is the burn away cake. I think it's a waste of cake and I don't really like cakes where you remove a strip of buttercream for a text. I think I don't like trends because you can't eat part of the cake, and that's a waste, isn't it?” |

A kind of giftFor Dieuw's Bakkerij packaging is very important! “I also always like it when I receive a parcel or product in a nice packaging. Then it is a kind of gift!” When choosing packaging, the sturdiness is particularly important. “That is really a must!” Price quality is also very important: “I want my packaging to have a beautiful appearance that makes the products stand out.” |

Tips & TricksPopular in the bakery are the mini bento boxes. “I use a box of 6 cupcakes for this, from which I cut out a square for the bento cake.” She also often packs other goodies in cupcake boxes without using the insert. |
|
FavoritesDieuwertje also has a few favorites: “The bento box is my favorite at the moment! We get a lot of compliments about it and it looks really cute!” For the regular line of packaging, she likes to keep it all in white. “This gives a fresh look. And I would also like to have the same design on the boxes, like the awning boxes !” |
