Product information
This rectangular, glossy white MDF cake board of 335 x 255 mm is made for number and letter cakes and fits my shop window boxes for 12 cupcakes and for 24 mini cupcakes. The board is 4 mm thick, with a glossy white top and edge and a matt white underside, and customers rate it very highly. Sold in packs of 10.
Which boxes fit this rectangular board?
The box for 12 cupcakes with shop window, 10 cm tall, and the box for 24 mini cupcakes, 7.5 cm tall. With the board on the base, the cupcake box becomes a box for a number cake. The boxes are ordered separately.
Why a rectangular board for a number cake?
Because a number or letter cake is elongated: on a round board space is left over on two sides, on this rectangular board the cake sits neatly in the middle. The 4 mm MDF bends less than card when you lift the cake.

Material, food contact and disposal
The cake board is made of MDF, a panel of compressed wood fibres, 4 mm thick. The top and edge are covered with a glossy white polyethylene (PE) layer. According to my supplier's declaration of conformity, the board is suitable for direct contact with dry and fatty foods at room temperature or colder. Moist, acidic and liquid foods are excluded, as is heating in an oven or microwave. The board is intended for single use. Disposal in the Netherlands: the used cake board with cake residue goes in residual waste, the shrink film around the set (PE) goes in plastic waste (PMD).
Frequently asked questions
What size cake fits this rectangular cake board?
A number or letter cake of up to about 29 x 21 cm. That leaves a border all round for your finish and for moving the cake safely; as a rule of thumb, the board is at least 2.5 cm larger than your cake.
Which cakes is the board suitable for?
Dry and fatty foods: according to my supplier's declaration, the board is suitable for those at room temperature or colder. Moist, acidic and liquid foods fall outside that declaration.
Can the cake go in the fridge on the board?
Yes. My supplier's declaration covers contact at room temperature or colder, so you can keep your cake on the board in the fridge until it is collected or delivered.
