The power behind thousands of personalized donuts
In Terschuur, Gelderland, we find Charlotte (32), the creative force behind Personaliseerjedonut.nl. Her entrepreneurial adventure began ten years ago at the market, and now she runs a thriving business specializing in unique donuts for the business market. "From cookies with mom to thousands of donuts a week. Who would have thought?"

How it all began
Charlotte's story is a little different from that of many bakers. No endless hours in the kitchen as a child, but an entrepreneurial spirit from birth. Her father worked in markets, selling clothing in the Netherlands and stroopwafels in Italy. When he quit, Charlotte and her sister took over. In 2016, Charlotte baked her first donuts, and two years later, she started making donuts to order. In 2019, she quit her salaried job to focus fully on her business. And although the coronavirus pandemic briefly threw a wrench in the works, she then fully committed to her venture. That proved to be a brilliant move: she now delights people every day with her personalized donuts.

A look behind the scenes
No two days are the same in the world of donuts. There are days when baking is done for twelve hours non-stop, but other days when the focus is on the inbox, scheduling, and purchasing. "Many people forget that entrepreneurship is so much more than just making something delicious." Fortunately, Charlotte doesn't have to do it alone. Her family is her secret weapon. They help with everything: from shopping to delivering and packaging. During busy periods, they're flexible, and Charlotte is incredibly grateful for that.

Favorite creations and inspiration
Charlotte prefers working for companies: logo donuts in corporate colors are her specialty. "It's so great to hear how well they were received and how they contributed to a business goal."
Highlights? A massive order of 3,500 donuts and six donut walls for a university, which even required security intervention. And of course, the time she delivered donuts in Paris for a trade show. "My husband and I immediately made a weekend getaway out of it."

For inspiration, Charlotte dives into social media or talks to sales representatives. "Someone recently came by with so many fun new flavors, I'll definitely try them out."
Still, she has her limits: she leaves 3D donut decorations to others. "It's not my style, and I don't have the patience for it."
Her own favorite snack? A mini donut with chocolate topping. "Definitely not every day, but every now and then... delicious!"
Tips and dreams
- Have confidence in yourself
- Don't let social media or unsolicited advice drive you crazy
- Never sign a contract under pressure
Charlotte learned that last lesson the hard way when she agreed to a website offer that ended up costing her a lot of time, money, and energy.
Her biggest challenge? Finding the balance between growth and rest. She wants so much: a better website, stronger marketing, an even better customer experience. "But it has to be a step-by-step process. And that's sometimes difficult."
Still, she keeps dreaming. "I hope that when people hear the word 'donuts,' they immediately think of Personaliseerjedonut.nl."
And there's good news: Personaliseerjestroopwafel.nl recently launched. This means Charlotte now also offers personalized stroopwafels for the business market. A great example? The stroopwafels with the Cupcakedozen.nl logo, of course!
“We want to make even more people happy with personalized treats using the syrup waffles.”
